Special Education (Irena Evans)
Originally from Croatia, Europe, Irena had passion for teaching and psychology all her life! Seven years ago she got an opportunity to start working with students with special needs and she knew she found her calling. She has previously worked both as an Assistant and the Lead Special Education Teacher as well as in-home therapist.
She received her Bachelor's Degree in Communication and Culture in 2011 and her Masters Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction with the concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in 2016. She is also a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) since 2018 and is currently working on becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Seeing the progress, success and the abilities of students with special needs is what drives her to continue her career in this field, especially in the school setting where ABA methods are used. She has also volunteered with the law enforcement agencies and their Crisis Intervention Units on training involving those with special needs and got her Graduate Certificate in Forensic Psychology in 2019. She spends her free time with her fiancé and their 2 Maine Coon cats, Sylvester and Murphy, who is 25 pounds, and they enjoy trying new restaurants and taking weekend road trips.
